IWC Cal. 89 1951
In the 1950s, the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen resumed manufacturing civilian watches after the war years. At the heart of this resurgence, the caliber 89 established itself as one of the house's most remarkable movements: a hand-wound manufacture, it combines robustness, precision, and unfailing reliability, faithful to IWC's tradition of excellence. Introduced in 1946 and remaining in production for over thirty years until 1979, this mythical caliber equips a dress watch with understated and timeless elegance. The engraving on the back reveals its history: gifted by Gebrüder Sulzer AG of Winterthur to one of its long-serving employees, it bears witness to the Swiss tradition of rewarding loyalty and commitment with a durable quality object.
