IWC Cal. 89 1951
In the 1950s, the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen resumed the production of civilian watches after the war years. At the heart of this rebirth, the caliber 89 established itself as one of the house's most remarkable movements: a hand-wound manufacture movement, it combined robustness, precision, and unfailing reliability, true to IWC's tradition of excellence. Introduced in 1946 and remaining in production for over thirty years until 1979, this legendary caliber powers an elegant dress watch with a sober and timeless appeal. The engraving on the back reveals its history: gifted by Gebrüder Sulzer AG of Winterthur to one of its long-serving employees, it testifies to the Swiss tradition of rewarding loyalty and commitment with a durable, quality object.
