L.U.C., the initials of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, founder of the company in 1860 in Sonvilier, refers here to a production dating from before Chopard's takeover by Karl Scheufele in 1963, a time when the brand offered elegant dress watches. The two-tone "bullseye" dial and cow-horn lugs give this model an instantly recognizable visual character.
The movement, a Fontainemelon (FHF) blank, reflects the pragmatic approach of manufacturers of the time: relying on the best caliber suppliers in French-speaking Switzerland to guarantee reliability and ease of maintenance.
