In the early 1950s, Tudor established itself as a leading brand. In 1952, members of the British North Greenland Expedition all wore a Tudor Oyster Prince on their wrist, proof of the trust placed in its ruggedness under extreme conditions. The reference 7808 follows this same philosophy: offering the water resistance and reliability of the Oyster case at a more accessible price than Rolex, in a 34mm size suited to elegant everyday wear. Its automatic caliber 390 is the same movement that powered the 7900 series Submariners from 1954 onward.
