This reference marks a key milestone: introduced in 1956, it was the first Seamaster fitted with a date-equipped caliber, the caliber 503, which inaugurated Omega's shift from bumper movements to full-rotor automatics.
The caliber 503 stands out for its semi-quickset date change: by winding the hands back to around 9pm and then forward again, the date window advances with each cycle. Over the decades, this model has developed a golden patina that makes it unique.

Launched in 1948 to celebrate Omega's centenary, the Seamaster is one of the Swiss brand's most iconic collections. In its early days, it embodied the ultimate "dress-sport" watch: robust, waterproof, yet elegant enough to accompany its wearer in all circumstances. In 1957, it adopted the seahorse as its emblem: a symbol inspired by Venetian sculptures of Neptune, carved on either side of the gondolas in the City of Doges, and since then inextricably linked to the collection's marine identity.
