L.U.C., the initials of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, founder of the house in 1860 in Sonvilier, refers here to production predating Chopard's takeover by Karl Scheufele in 1963, a period when the brand offered refined dress watches. The two-tone "bullseye" dial and the cow-horn lugs give this model an immediately recognizable visual character.
The movement, a Fontainemelon (FHF) ébauche, reflects the pragmatic approach of manufactures at the time: relying on the best caliber suppliers in French-speaking Switzerland to ensure reliability and ease of maintenance.
