The world's first automatic chronograph.

Reference 20.0210.415 ("Surf" Edition)

On January 10, 1969, Zenith unveiled the El Primero, the world's very first automatic chronograph. The "Surf" model presented here dates from the 1970s and was produced in limited quantities.
A historic manufacture from Le Locle, Zenith nonetheless asserted its technical mastery amid fierce competition in watchmaking, on the eve of the quartz crisis. The caliber 3019 PHC powering this piece beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour, an unprecedented frequency allowing time to be measured with record precision down to 1/10th of a second.

I bought an Omega watch with an amazing patine from Vintage Watch Spirit. The watches in their catalog are splendid. A promising family-run startup in vintage watchmaking. I won't hesitate to go back to them.
