Giving a vintage watch: your questions
How do you choose a vintage watch for someone else?
The simplest is to start from their style: a dress watch for special occasions, or a sturdier watch for every day. You also need to think about size: vintage watches generally measure between 30 and 38 mm, so they are more discreet than today’s models. If in doubt, write to us and we will help you choose.
What budget should you plan to give a vintage watch?
It all depends on the occasion. Under €1,500, you will find classic, elegant models, perfect as a first vintage watch. Between €1,500 and €2,500, more sought-after pieces: automatic calibres, chronometers, references prized by collectors. Above €2,500, rare or precious watches, for a great occasion or a gift that will be passed down.
Does the watch arrive ready to be given?
Yes. Every watch is delivered in its Vintage Watch Spirit case, in a plain, discreet parcel. Watches on leather come on a new strap, chosen to match the dial.
How much time should you allow for a specific date?
Allow 1 to 2 business days for preparation, then 2 to 3 business days for delivery in France, 2 to 5 days in Europe, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and 4 to 10 days in the rest of the world. Express delivery shortens this time. For Christmas, it is best to order at least one week ahead in Europe, and two weeks elsewhere.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, depending on your country. Payment in instalments, notably with Klarna, is offered when you pay for your order.
What if the watch isn’t right?
No need to worry: you have 14 days after receipt to tell us about a return, without having to give a reason. All the conditions are set out in our returns policy.
Is an old watch a reliable gift?
Yes. All our mechanical watches are serviced before sale and guaranteed for 12 months. A vintage watch simply needs a little care: avoid any contact with water and dust, and have it serviced about every 5 years. In return, it can go on for decades.
