This 1990s Cartier Santos Galbée 187901 features a stainless steel case and an 18-carat yellow gold bezel, secured by visible screws. It is fitted with an 18 cm Cartier bracelet combining steel and gold, which fastens with a Cartier-signed deployment clasp.
The cream dial features Roman numerals, a railway-track minute track, a date at 6 o'clock, and blued steel glaive hands.
The watch is powered by the Cartier 687 quartz movement.
Condition of the watch
The watch is entirely original. The cream dial is in very good condition and has never been polished, with only a barely visible mark on the final R of Cartier. The sapphire crystal is in very good condition and shows no visible scratches. The case is in generally good condition, with some signs of wear. The gold bezel is in good condition, with scratches and one slightly deeper scratch on the left side. The bracelet is in good condition, with scratches from normal wear.

Why is it called the "Santos Galbée"?
The Santos name pays tribute to Alberto Santos-Dumont, aviation pioneer and friend of Louis Cartier, for whom the first Santos was designed in 1904. "Galbée" refers to the version launched in 1987, whose case is rounder and more curved than that of the original Santos.
What does "steel and gold" mean on this Santos Galbée?
This version combines stainless steel with 18-carat yellow gold: the screw-on bezel is made of yellow gold, and the bracelet also combines both metals. The Santos is often cited as the watch that made steel and gold models popular.
