This 1952 Omega features a sunburst dial that makes it remarkable on the wrist. The gold applied indices, the gold inner ring around the dial, and the small seconds at 6 o'clock give this dial a sophisticated look.
Its steel case measures 36 mm excluding the crown, a fairly large diameter for a watch of that era. It is this size that earns it the nickname "Jumbo" among collectors.
This reference 2639-12 is equipped with the manual-winding Omega 266 caliber.

Watch condition
The watch is entirely original, with the exception of the crystal, which has been replaced. The dial has never been touched and is in very good condition. The crown is signed. The case is in good overall condition.

What movement powers this watch?

It is the manual-winding Omega 266 caliber, with small seconds. It belongs to the Omega 30mm movement family and features 17 jewels as well as shock protection.

Why is it called "Jumbo"?

Its case measures 36 mm excluding the crown. This diameter was larger than that of many men's watches from the 1950s. The term "Jumbo" is used by collectors to designate this large format.

What is known about reference 2639?

The Omega 2639 is a manual-winding steel reference, produced in the early 1950s and powered by the 266 caliber. It exists in several dial variants.

The detailed, high-resolution photos and videos allowed for a close look at every little detail. And anything not mentioned in the description or shown in the photos was easily clarified via chat. The watch arrived quickly, in a very carefully packed parcel, with a beautiful certificate of purchase. Overall, an excellent buying experience and, of course, a fantastic watch!
