What does "very close to NOS" mean?

NOS stands for "new old stock": a vintage watch that has remained new, never sold or almost never worn. This Constellation comes close to this due to its exceptional condition.

About the caliber 561

The caliber 561 belongs to Omega's 550 series, launched starting in 1958. It is the date-equipped and chronometer-certified version of this family: a 24-jewel automatic movement beating at 19,800 vibrations per hour. It powered date-equipped Constellation models from the late 1950s until it was replaced around 1966 by the caliber 564, which featured a quick-set date function.

Launched in 1952, the Omega Constellation immediately established itself as the first mass-produced chronometer-certified automatic watch. Its name is inspired by the eight stars engraved on the case back, symbolizing the eight chronometric awards won by Omega at the Kew-Teddington and Geneva observatories between 1933 and 1952. This medallion featuring the observatory crowned with stars quickly became one of the brand's most recognizable signatures.
