Produced in 1963, this Omega Constellation is distinguished by a uniform speckled patina and two-tone (silver and black) indices, which give it an immediately identifiable character.
The steel case shows wear consistent with its age. It is equipped with a ten-sided signed crown, typical of the Constellation, and its case back is engraved with the Geneva Observatory medallion and its eight stars. Beating inside is the automatic caliber 551, renowned for its precision and reliability.

Watch condition
The watch is entirely original, with the exception of the crystal, which has been replaced. The dial has never been touched and features a unique patina, with small dots spread across its entire surface. The ten-sided crown is signed. The case is in good condition, with some traces of wear.

The caliber 551

This is a central-rotor automatic caliber, chronometer-certified, which features 24 jewels and beats at 19,800 vibrations per hour. A date-free chronometer version of the 552 caliber, it powers Constellation models with a center seconds hand.

Launched in 1952, the Omega Constellation immediately established itself as the first mass-produced chronometer-certified automatic watch. Its name is inspired by the eight stars engraved on the case back, symbolizing the eight chronometric awards won by Omega at the Kew-Teddington and Geneva observatories between 1933 and 1952. This medallion featuring the observatory crowned with stars quickly became one of the brand's most recognizable signatures.
