This 1952 Omega features a chocolate-colored patina dial with subtle golden reflections that appear depending on the light. The applied indices and the small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock complete this understated dial.
Its steel case measures 36 mm excluding the crown, a relatively large diameter for a watch from this era. It is this size that earns it the "Jumbo" nickname among collectors.
This reference 2639-12 is powered by the manual-winding Omega caliber 266.

Watch condition
The watch is entirely original, with the exception of the crystal, which has been replaced. The dial has never been touched. It has developed a chocolate-colored patina over time. The case is in good overall condition. The bottom left lug has a small loss of material.

What movement powers this watch?

It features the manual-winding Omega caliber 266, with small seconds. It belongs to the Omega 30mm movement family and features 17 jewels as well as shock protection.

Why is it called "Jumbo"?

Its case measures 36 mm excluding the crown. This diameter was larger than that of many men's watches from the 1950s, which were often between 32 and 34 mm. The term "Jumbo" is used by collectors to refer to this large size.

What do we know about reference 2639?

The Omega 2639 is a manual-winding steel reference, produced in the early 1950s and powered by the 266 caliber. It exists in several dial variants.
