Produced by Omega in the early 1950s, this piece is immediately recognizable by its bullseye dial, also known as a tuxedo dial, with its black and white contrast, and its small seconds at 6 o'clock. The dial has aged very well. It houses the manual-winding caliber 266.

Watch condition
The watch is entirely original. The dial of this Omega has never been touched. It shows some marks due to its age. The original crystal is signed Omega. The case is in good overall condition.

Why is it called a "tuxedo" dial?

Because the contrast of this two-tone dial evokes the colors of a tuxedo, black and white. It is also referred to as a "bullseye" dial due to its center encircled by a ring of a contrasting color.

The caliber 266

It is a manual-winding Omega movement from the 30mm caliber family, with small seconds, 17 jewels, and Incabloc shock protection. It is renowned for being robust and easy to maintain.

What do we know about reference 2639?

The Omega 2639 is a steel manual-winding reference, produced in the early 1950s and powered by the caliber 266. It exists in several dial variants.

The detailed, high-resolution photos and videos allowed for a close look at every little detail. And anything not mentioned in the description or shown in the photos was easily clarified via chat. I bought an Omega watch with an incredible patina from Vintage Watch Spirit. The watches in their catalog are splendid. A promising family-run startup in vintage watchmaking.
I won't hesitate to return to them.
