This 1960 timepiece is part of the Pilot collection.
The dial pairs applied gold indices with applied Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9 o'clock, with a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock. The movement is a manual-winding caliber 40T.

Watch condition

The watch is entirely original except for the crystal, which has been replaced. The dial has never been touched. It is slightly cream-colored and shows a few brown spots in the center. The case is in good overall condition.

Why is Zenith the only brand allowed to write "Pilot" on a dial?

Zenith trademarked "Pilote" in 1888, then "Pilot" in 1904, and has renewed this trademark ever since. This makes it the only brand authorized to print this word on a dial.

What do we know about the 40T caliber?

It is a manual-winding Zenith caliber with small seconds, 17 jewels, and a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. It was produced between approximately 1958 and 1963, a period that includes the year of this watch.

The detailed, high-resolution photos and videos made it possible to see every little detail up close. And anything not mentioned in the description or shown in the photos was easily clarified via chat. The watch arrived quickly, in a very carefully packed parcel, with a beautiful certificate of purchase. Overall, an excellent buying experience and, of course, a fantastic watch!

I bought an Omega watch with an incredible patina from Vintage Watch Spirit. The watches in their catalog are splendid. A promising family-run start-up in vintage watchmaking.
I won't hesitate to go back to them.
