This 1990s Exaequo Softwatch ref. 92011 features a warm gilt dial that naturally follows the curves of its case.
Neither round nor square, it seems to melt gently on the wrist: its fluid, distorted case echoes the aesthetic of Salvador Dalí's soft watches and evokes the famous Cartier Crash.
Preserved in near-new condition with its original buckle, it can be worn as much as a small work of art as an everyday watch with character.
A piece that catches the eye and starts conversations, for those who like their watch to tell a story.

Condition of the watch
The watch is entirely original, including the buckle, and close to NOS condition. The plating is intact. The crystal is in very good condition, with a few small, barely visible scratches. The dial has never been touched and is very well preserved. The case is in very good overall condition.

Photo / video taken on a 16.5 cm wrist.

Where does the inspiration come from?

“NO PIECE OF ART IS BORN WITHOUT INSPIRATION”

In June 1990, Philippe Muller, always looking for new creative ideas, discovered the painting at the museum. At that very moment, he knew he had just conceived a new generation of watches. Neither round nor square, the Softwatch melts through time just as it does on the wrist. The master would certainly have worn it.

Why does the case have this distorted shape?

The Softwatch line is inspired by Salvador Dalí's “soft” watches, featured in his painting The Persistence of Memory (1931). The case is therefore deliberately twisted, like a melting watch.

I bought an Omega watch with an incredible patina from Vintage Watch Spirit. The watches in their catalog are splendid. A promising family-run start-up in vintage watchmaking.
I won't hesitate to go back to them.
