This 1959 Omega Seamaster 2990-1, known as the “Seachero”, features a white dial with applied gilt numerals and a small seconds at 6 o'clock.
Its steel case measures 36 mm without the crown. That is a generous size for the era, which sometimes earns it the “jumbo” label. This version is uncommon.
It is powered by the hand-wound calibre 267, from Omega's family of 30 mm calibres.

Condition of the watch
The case is in good condition for its age. The dial has never been touched. The crystal and the crown have been replaced. A light patina has developed on the small seconds sub-dial.

Why is this Seamaster called a “Seachero”?

“Seachero” is a nickname given by collectors, not an official Omega name. It refers to a Seamaster fitted in the reference 2990 case, that of the Ranchero, and combines the names Seamaster and Ranchero. Launched in 1958, the Ranchero line sold poorly and was discontinued around 1960. Original examples with the Ranchero name on the dial are even rarer today. Seacheros, for their part, are seldom seen.

What do we know about the calibre 267 inside this watch?

The calibre 267 is a hand-wound movement with 17 jewels, from Omega's family of 30 mm calibres, with shock protection.

I bought an Omega watch with an incredible patina from Vintage Watch Spirit. The watches in their catalog are splendid. A promising family-run start-up in vintage watchmaking.
I won't hesitate to go back to them.
